Who we are
Washington Anthro Group is a Washington non-profit corporation formed to support the growth of artists, writers, performers, and makers specializing in anthropomorphic arts. We facilitate opportunities for the community to collaborate, exchange ideas, and educate one another while allowing the public to engage with this unique and transformative method of self-expression — and supporting the larger public good through charitable outreach.
What we do
We organize events to support public awareness of anthropomorphic art, as well as to educate and inspire the next generation of anthropomorphic artists. Our flagship event is Evergreen Critter Camp, an annual outdoor gathering under the evergreens of the Pacific Northwest, in planning for 2027 or 2028.
Beyond the convention, we expect to host smaller meetups, community gatherings, and collaborations with other furry-aligned organizations across the region. Programming is being developed by our volunteer board and the community we serve.
Our values
We draw on a tradition of temporary, art-built communities — the kind that rise for a weekend or a week, ask everyone to participate rather than spectate, and leave no trace but the bonds made there. We want to carry that spirit forward into a furry space of our own — a transformative, creative, and civic-minded home for the anthropomorphic-arts community. The eight principles below describe the community we hope to keep building, in the studio, at the convention, and in the forests and cities of the Pacific Northwest.
Radical inclusion
Anyone may join us. We place no prerequisites on belonging — everyone who finds kinship in the artform is already one of us.
Self-expression
Each of us carries an inner self worth sharing. We make room for every fursona, every animal we feel close to, and every form that expression takes.
Participation
We are made by the people who show up. Nothing here is a spectator sport; the community exists because its members create it together.
Sharing knowledge
We pass on what we know. Through teaching, mentorship, and the freely given gift of time, we help one another grow — so that every artist who comes after finds an open door and a hand to guide them.
Communal effort
We gather, build, and create as a pack. The best of what we make, we make together.
Self-reliance
We trust our members to bring their own voice and resourcefulness, and we work to equip each of them to stand on their own creative feet.
Immediacy
We meet one another as we are, in the moment, without a wall between us — even when a mask or a suit is part of the art.
Civic responsibility
We look after one another's safety and dignity, and we hold ourselves accountable to the wider community we are part of.
